There are a lot of underrated bands out there who truly deserve the reach, one among them

Would be Marian Brothers who have their roots from the coastal region of

Karnataka, they are well versed multi talented musicians.

They have produced 2 singles namely ‘where did you go’ and ‘wind’ , these two songs are soothing and soulful when listened to, the composition is very unique, the melody of the song becomes very catchy after listening to it a couple of times, especially the guitar solo in ‘where did you go’ made it even better.

While the song wind is playing it feels like you’re in a boat floating in the middle of the calm ocean and everything peaceful, the work done on it is very impressive.

The members of the band have really good chemistry and are more like brothers just like the band name goes, they’ve come a long way from playing small gigs to big time gigs and music production.

The next step for them as a band is moving out of their hometown to spread their music in a bigger scale and reach hearts of a larger crowd. It all starts with a plan and small leap for success and this could be just that leap for Marian Brothers.

1. A brief intro of every member in the band

~ We are Marian Brothers. Currently we are made up of 5 guys.

a) Lead Guitar/ Singer: Renil Saldanha

Also Teaches and produces music

b) Rhythm Guitar/Singer: Shon Mendonca

Trades financial markets and writes new songs every week.

c) Keys/Singer/Other instruments: Marvel Christon Dsouza

Recently became a Chartered Accountant

d) Bass: Daniel Dsouza

He's a videographer, photographer, video editor and a website developer)

e) Drummer: Joel Saldanha

An excellent chef. He makes some dope Chicken Wings, Creme Caramel, Brownies, Biryani. Anything really.

2. When and how did y’all form this band

~ Our formation is one of those stories wherein if certain things didn't happen at the time it happened, we probably would never even have imagined that we'd a forming a band. Marvel created our first WhatsApp group to perform for a corporate gig in Udupi in July 2018. It was just Me, Marvel and Daniel. Not too long after, we got another gig and that's were Renil and Drummer Joel "Joey" Joshua (not Joel Saldanha) joined and we kept going. Although Joey had to leave after a year or two due to personal and other reasons. Renil's own brother Joel joined us soon after as drummer.

3. How has your journey been since then

~ 3. I won't sugarcoat and say that we've had perfect track record. Underpaid gigs, months without gigs, loss of communication and activity within the band, career concerns etc have been the Betals if we were the Vikram in the story. Having said that, the kind of awesome gigs like the ones in Shaka Surf Club, drunk nights and conversations, long practice sessions, loading and unloading etc, we wouldn't have it any other way.

4. How have y’all grown as a band

~ As a band, i think the brotherhood we share is far more greater than just 5 people coming together to play songs and do their parts. If someone were to marry one of us, they'd probably have the other four guys to deal with too.

Just in January, we were discussing about how far we have reached both in terms as a band and individual skillsets. If you watched one of our old videos and the current ones, we are definitely tight with the rhythm and way better with vocals

5. Your achievements together so far

~ We have won two Battle of Bands, namely Brandscan and Atharva, hosted by TAPMI, Manipal and won a second place in a MIT, Manipal Battle of Bands competition. These were one of those moments were we had the most adrenalene rush. Apart from that, every gig we play is an achievement for us because every performance makes us one level better.

6. What are your plans for the future of the band

~ Currently we are in the process of moving to Bangalore. It's all unchartered territory for us. We are working on an unnamed album and actually almost done with it except for the fine tuning and post production. It is both exciting and chilling. The kind of songs we have made sometimes just impresses us. We hope for better connections and audience growth in this next chapter of our brotherhood.

7. What’s the most memorable moment of y’all as band

~ To be honest, i would not be making justice to all the memorable moments we have had by choosing them. Everyday we come together to create and perform is a memorable day. Messing up on the stage, leaving back important cables in the jam room, getting drunk, talking to new people, writing and producing songs etc. The most recent moment that I think we will be talking about for a while is how Renil and Marvel travelled to Bangalore in the bus with 20 to 25 bags and boxes including 3 guitars and 2 keys with Akshay, Me and Joel helping them. Even the bus driver got down and came to check what the fuss was all about haha.
